Heritage Open Day

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. Running for ten days every September, the festival offers access to heritage events and activities across England. The theme for this year is "Creativity Unwrapped"

At Bridge View Light Railway there will be a ‘Cover Up’ Patchwork Exhibition by The Jane Cobbett Collection of Historic Textiles

This informal exhibition 'Cover Up' is part of an Educational Collection of patchwork owned by Jane Cobbett who uses them in her textile classes, talks and workshops as examples of traditional hand and machine techniques. Last seen in Coventry over 5 years ago these items will be on display in a garden setting and marquee.

There will also be a range of displays and attractions for the whole family. Originally devised in the Victorian period, ‘model engineering’ 7¼‘’ railways like ours play host to a range of train shapes, sizes and ages with enough power to pull a car and with some of ours dating to the mid-20th century.  Our group of volunteers will be running the railway for scenic rides through the garden and along the riverbank. 

Other highlights include our 1970s styled station, with gift shop perfect for young and old enthusiasts.

It's your opportunity to visit hidden places like Bridge View Light Railway which is a volunteer run community project to build and operate a heritage themed miniature railway along the beautiful riverbank of the Sowe in Baginton Village.
